OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer Programs
Change the World. Start Right Here.

The museum welcomes volunteer participation at every level. There is an active group who work with the education department, with individuals taking the lead as docent guides for the school tours. Other volunteers fill in as drivers for speakers, assist with the audio-visual, and run the poster signing during the symposia series. Some volunteers enjoy participating as re-enactors for the living history demonstrations.

There is a great need for volunteers to serve as oral history interviewers and transcribers. The museum could not operate without the generosity of the volunteers at every level. For those who would like to volunteer, no matter where you live, please contact Stefanie Manee (830) 997-8600, extension 223.

Donate an Artifact

The Museum's collection of artifacts from the Pacific War totals well over 15,000 and contains everything from beer passes on Mog Mog Island to aircraft and tanks. Thousands of new donations come in every year. Many of these items are on display in the permanent and temporary exhibits of the Museum, and many more are rotated between preservation storage and exhibit on a regular basis.

The Museum is always interested in donations of artifacts and archival material. If you are interested in donating materials or in making use of the research facilities, please contact the Museum at 830-997-4379 ext. 223.

Oral History
Share Your Story and Inspire the Future

The museum has an active oral history program geared to capturing the stories of veterans, and the home front. This program began in 1988 with the first symposium and has expanded over the last few years with additional volunteers to man the project. We invite you to visit the Museum website and share your story with us!
